Within Reach 2022 Calendar and Prayer Guide – May
ICM
How can we ensure there is a church within walking distance of everyone in the world?
We must be patient. We must be steadfast. Most importantly, we must pray.
Thousands of indigenous people groups exist around the world, each with their own unique history and culture. While some have heard the Gospel, there is still much work needing to be done. Many of these people face persecution, especially those who have converted to Christianity. A strong church provides hope, safety and support for these new Christians, and spreads the Gospel to others.
As the Global Church Developer, our mission is to equip our indigenous partners with resources they need to plant churches, disciple believers and provide refuge. Without you, we could not accomplish that mission. Each month, we highlight some of those groups that may be blessed by ICM and our partners.
Please take time each month to pray for them as our work continues, and reflect on your own spiritual journey with the Lord. We pray each month’s post is a blessing to you. We thank you for your endless support.
All Scripture references come from the New Living Translation (NLT). Joshua Project used for Profile resource and stats.
People Within Reach: KUI KHOND
Located in Southeast Asia
The Kui people are a tight knit community residing in thick, dense jungles without access to plumbing or electricity. They spend their days raising crops and livestock. Families live in one-room mud huts, cook their meals over an open fire, and have very few material belongings.
The Kui are heavily influenced by a deeply religious culture, and worship idols or gods that require sacrifices. The selfless determination of several missionaries and pastors over many years has resulted in some Kui hearing the Gospel. However, a lack of resources and Bible study material has made it very difficult to strengthen their relationship with God.

Reflection Questions
Think about your “relationship” with material goods. Do you tend to live a frugal, minimalist lifestyle, or do you tend to collect “stuff?” Having “stuff” is not necessarily a bad thing, but reflect on how you can be more appreciative of the material goods you have. Consider donating things to your local thrift store or homeless shelter…someone else may need that “thing” more than you!
Prayer Requests
- Pray that the Kui will no longer suffer at the hands of violent Hindu groups.
- Pray for the Kui women, who do not have as much access to education or Bible training.
- Pray for resources that pastors and missionaries need to reach these people.
- Pray for protection from violent Hindu groups who are persecuting them.
“Let your eyes look directly forward, and your gaze be straight before you. Ponder the path of your feet; then all your ways will be sure.”— Proverbs 4:25-26
